Is the QR stamp a legal notarization?
No - this tool never claims that, and it's worth being direct about it: the QR stamp is a plain, self-contained tamper-evidence fingerprint of the file's own bytes at the moment it was stamped, not a notarization, certification, or a connection to any lookup service. Treat it as a way to let someone confirm a copy hasn't been altered since it was stamped, nothing more.
How does someone actually verify the QR stamp?
They scan it (or read the SHA-256 hash printed underneath it) and compare it against a fresh hash of their own copy of the ORIGINAL, unstamped file - entirely offline, with no account or database on this site involved. If the hashes match, that copy of the original file is identical to the one that was stamped.
Is stamping a document free?
Your first stamp on this site is free. After that it's a flat, small credit charge per document - there's no separate free "scan" step for this tool since there's nothing to scan for; you're choosing what to add, not fixing something that was found.

Quick tips
