How to use this tool

Do my files get uploaded anywhere?
No. Every PDF is read and combined entirely in your own browser - none of them ever reaches this site's servers. Composing is free; only the finished download spends a credit.
How many PDFs can I combine?
Up to 6 PDFs at once in either mode, each up to 200 pages.
What's the difference between Direct merge and Swap pages?
Direct merge simply joins all the files in order (you can still rearrange or drop pages). Swap pages treats the first file as the base document and lets you replace or insert pages from the others.
Can I reuse the same edit on similar files later?
Yes - in Swap mode, save your selections as a recipe and apply it again the next time you have a similar set of files.

Need to merge PDF files into one document? Merge & Swap PDF lets you combine PDF files online, in the order you choose, without installing software. Join reports, scans, invoices or certificates, rearrange pages if you want, and download a single PDF in seconds.

Open the tool and add your PDFs
Open the page and make sure the mode box says Direct merge. Drag two or more PDF files onto the dashed box, or press Browse and select them (up to 6 files at a time).

Check the order of the files
Your files appear as chips labelled A, B, C. The merged PDF follows this order, so use the small arrows to move a file earlier or later, or the x to remove one. The panel below tells you how many pages each file adds.

Every page of every file is shown as a thumbnail. Drag a page to a new position, even from one file into another, or remove a page you do not want in the combined PDF.

Type an output file name if you like and press Download PDF. Your merged PDF is saved to your device, and the name keeps the first file's name plus _LoveByPDF so you can always find it.

- Put the files in the right order before downloading - it is quicker than fixing it afterwards.
- Need more than 6 files? Merge the first batch, then add the merged result and the rest in a second round.
- Large scans? Run Compress PDF on the merged file to make it small enough for e-mail.
Common problems & fixes
- The merged file is too big to e-mail
- Open Compress PDF and choose a smaller level or an exact target such as 500 KB.
- One file will not open
- It may be password-protected. Remove the password first with Remove PDF Password, then merge again.
- Pages are in the wrong order
- Go back to step 3 and drag the thumbnails, or press the reverse-order button to flip the whole sequence.
