How does LoveByPDF find the fields in my template?

It looks for {{placeholders}}, [Square bracket] names, blanks such as ______ or ........, labels that end with a colon such as Name:, empty table cells next to a label, and text you highlighted. Each one is given a name from the words around it.

Does it work with PDF templates?

Yes. Fillable PDFs use their own field names; flat PDFs and scanned forms are read for blanks, boxes and labels, and the typed answer is written onto the page.

How to prepare your template so every field is found

Nothing special is required - an ordinary letter, form or agreement works. These are the things we detect:

{{Name}}placeholders: {{name}}, [Company Name], <<Date>>, ${amount}. The same placeholder used many times is one field.

Name: ________blanks made of underscores or dots. The words before the blank become the field's name.

Address:a label with nothing after it, or a table with the label in one cell and an empty cell next to it.

Highlighted texthighlight in yellow whatever must change; the highlighted words become the field name.

PDF formsfillable PDFs use their own field names; flat and scanned PDFs are read for blanks, boxes and labels.
