Statutory Declaration (UK)

A statutory declaration must be signed in front of a solicitor, notary or commissioner for oaths. A false declaration is a criminal offence under the Perjury Act 1911.

When to use it

  • Bonafide, character or residence proof for school, bank or visa
  • Employment and salary certificates for loans and visas
  • No-dues and course-completion certificates
  • Declarations for income, address or name change

How to write Statutory Declaration (UK)

  1. Use the letterhead of the issuing organisation, or your own details if you issue it as a person.
  2. Give the person's full name and the exact facts being certified.
  3. Mention the purpose and the date. Include only facts you can stand behind.
  4. Sign it, add the stamp or seal of the issuer, and give the original to the person who asked for it.
